A Dwarf's Story

This review is based solely on the free trial. I'd hesitated trying this game out, as another reviewer's explanation of the game mechanics--the changing color of the cursor determining which matches are valid ones--perplexed me, but the graphics looked so cute I decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, my first impression seems accurate. This game makes zero sense to me. :/ I simply COULD NOT understand the game mechanics of the switching colors on the cursor and how that related to making matches. First off, they tell you to "click and change" the primary color on the cursor, as if this is required for each match, but a few times I didn't do this yet made matches anyway--and sometimes it seems like the cursor colors change on their own--so why do they tell you to do that if it's not required? Secondly, and more frustratingly###just when I thought I'd figured it out--"Aha, there's a major color and a minor color on the cursor, that must mean I can make switches involving those two colors!"--I learned I was wrong# For example, the cursor would be, say, pink and yellow--which I assumed meant I could swap/change pink and yellow items on the game board--but then when I took too long making such a match, the game would "nag" me by making one of the BROWN items start flashing, and that was where the match would be made# Numerous times I tried changing the color of the cursor and clicking on items I assumed were related, but it wouldn't work; the matches weren't valid# Most matches I did make were accidental# And of course, since game progress depends on the TYPES of matches you make #for example, wood = building supplies, I believe#, I couldn't plan out any moves I made so that the results would be most beneficial. I played for perhaps 10-15 minutes, about two rounds/levels, before giving it up as nonsensical. I guess I'm just missing something since the other reviewer understood it, but I don't, and I don't find it much fun waiting for the game to nag me before m

Boring

It's true that it is a variation on the usual match 3, but the problem is that there is no real challenge. You spend a lot of time simply clicking endlessly while waiting for the little guys at the bottom to pick up your resources to finish the level. Except for the very last level, the difficulty stays basically the same throughout. Simply put, it's boring. It's a good thing it is not longer. The story, though, is followed throughout. Warning: This game contains occult elements (wizards, spells, dragons, etc.).

Fun game

Enjoyed the slight variation on the usual match 3 type of game, and you don't have to wait for the pieces to change, which doesn't slow the game down. I also would have liked more variation to choose for the avatar, but overall an enjoyable game.

Fun...But It's Too Short!

The bright, vivid and colorful graphics are a highlight to this game! It follows its storyline through out, but what sets this M3 apart from all others is that by right-clicking your mouse, you change the color of your cursor, and thus, the color-coordinated icon that you are going after. You don't actually 'swap' the tiles, you click on the one you want to change to match those surrounding it, by the color of your cursor. You have set goals for each level, and there are numerous power-ups to earn and use; however, the timer is generous and I didn't need the power-ups, thus, lowering the challenge level of this fun game. It can also be played in the Relaxed #untimed# mode. It has HO and mini games, as well. Very cute and fun concept, but needs to be much longer.

I love the progression of the game.

Way too short

I really liked this game, it was easy and fun to play but way too short for the price. I wish I would have waited until it was the Deal of the Day. Good fun but would have like to have had more levels.
