4th game in the series. If you liked any of them, you will like this one as they are very similar in style. The first 3 games take place in the 1930s. It is now 2012 (the year that Mayan hieroglyphs predicted the end of the world, as deciphered by Nelly); Nelly and Tom have hardly aged, unlike me. Usually, it?s Tom who needs rescuing; this time, it?s Nelly. Although the premise is the same as the earlier games (searching for the Holy Grail), it is a very good and enjoyable game. Visit Jerusalem, Paris, Scotland and Mexico as Tom chases after the time traveler Totenkraft and the captured Nelly. Hint system is very good, but gameplay isn?t that frustrating to begin with. There is a built-in detailed strategy guide if needed. You will find inventory either through HOS or as stand-alone findings. Nice ratio of HOS and puzzles. Music was appropriate to the scenes. Gorgeous graphical displays of different scenes. LENGTH: Average ? 3 to 4 hours at a casual pace.
I really enjoyed the graphics on this game! For me, it was challenging and a lot of fun. I'm going to play it again to see if I can remember where everything was at!! Thanks! Great selection of games on here.
Overall I enjoyed this game. The puzzles weren't too difficult and could have been more difficult. I like the graphics. I do prefer some of the earlier games, but am looking forward to the next treasure seekers.
Review based upon completion of the game. So there we have it, the 4th installment of the Treasure Seekers series. We left off when Totenkraft first escaped into another time period and then stole an artifact out of a museum. Now he kidnapped your sister. Consequently you are not playing her until the bonus content. New stuff: A time travel ring - which can be confusing. The Good: + proven concept with the ring around hotspots + clue colour change in HO scenes when you open a smaller area + items generally not hard to find (not too easy either) + diverse riddles... The Neutral: o ...but not many of them, unless you count the (very easy) little manipulations to items to free them for "ring searches" o only 4 chapters, making the game shorter o some hotspots not working at first (cutting bars with saw!) The Bad: - confusing story - like I said above, time travel can become confusing (usually tasks tell you which time period to go to) - as opposed to earlier games there is now a twirly cursor after too many wrong clicks Bonus Content: good length compared to the game - help the siblings and Totenkraft escape a parallel dimension; you are playing with all three characters. I got stuck once even with the hint function until I found a HO scene. The Strategy Guide is just an illistrated list that does not bookmark where you are, leading to a lot of leafing through until you find the correct page. Throw ins are a few concept art and wallpapers, which are low resolution. Bottom Line: There is an "interesting" twist in the storyline, which makes the game very confusing in the series context. The game left me somehow cold, I enjoyed the others more. Maybe it's also due to the fact that those games are becoming shorter and shorter. My recommendation is to grab the normal version, the bonus content of the CE is not worth the full purchase price.
I actually played both the SE and the CE of this game. In the series, this game is the most poorly done. The time travel was confusing, and I had to go to the walkthrough several times to figure out what I was missing, particularly when all the hint button would tell me was that I needed to be in another time period. I don't like having to refer to the walk through, as you have to exit the game to get to it, and it stops your rhythm. I had to use the hint button on some of the HOS, which is OK, as I don't like HOS that are too easy. And I'm an impatient player, so I don't spend a lot of time trying to find the last couple of objects. The extra chapter added to the SE for the CE did not justify the difference in cost. Hopefully, the next issue in this series will show some improvement.
I have played all of the others and really tried to like this game. It's tired and boring. There are no voice's and it is freeze frame animation. The series has just failed to reinvent itself. With so many other great games out there this one just isn't worth any money.
